048. The Getaway Dinner: Cloud9 Resort

At work, my friends tease me a lot for not being out often. And if I do get out, I would have to give my parents advance notice. Lately, however, I get allowed out without the aforementioned advance notice, provided I have someone who goes home with me in the same direction (hope that makes sense, haha).

Angel, my friend from work visited home from Japan (he's doing his Ph.D there), and as a treat, we went out to dinner to resort an hour away from my office (bad traffic included). There were five of us in the car, and it was an hour catching up.

An evening spent with my favourite people at work always makes me smile--and it did help me get through something I was dealing with days prior to the dinner. It reminds me that there are people who know me well, that they value me, and I will forever be grateful for that.

The lovely little resort we went to is called Cloud 9. If you're in the Philippines and live within Metro Manila, it's located in Antipolo, which may be an hour's drive or two, depending on traffic and your point of origin.

When we went into the resort, we noticed a really long foot bridge. Everyone else was excited to go up on it--and I'm no exception. But I saw that it was a bit wobbly--the fact that I have a more than chunky build made me decide not to go.

I spied a little museum of sorts and in I went. And I was rewarded--I saw a number of interesting things--ranging from misalettes from the nineteenth century to town fiesta programs in the 1930s. Oh,  and there's also a gossip magazine printed in 1907!

Here are snaps that I took with my phone camera. Apologies in advance for the dodgy quality!

I found this really cool painting, one that I have thought was a vintage one until I looked at the lower left side of the painting. It wasn't an old one--but the painter's technique was really great since it looked like it was painted a hundred or so years ago.

The restaurant had a great view--sadly, gone undocumented. But I'm really hoping that I will be able to come back to that resort! :)
